I led the writing and editorial development of Outward Bound Canada’s 2025 annual report, shaping a publication designed to speak to multiple audiences at once: donors, partners, educators, supporters, and prospective funders.
The report brought together participant stories, organizational impact, program outcomes, fundraising results, and research in a way that felt clear, human, and grounded in the real experiences of young people across the country. My role included narrative strategy, content planning, interviews, writing, editing, and cross-department coordination.
One of the biggest challenges with annual reports is avoiding the feeling of a long institutional document full of disconnected updates and statistics. I focused on building a stronger narrative flow across the report so readers could understand not only what Outward Bound Canada accomplished in 2025, but why the work mattered and how different parts of the organization connected to each other.
The report was also designed to support broader communications and fundraising goals beyond the publication itself. Content and messaging developed for the report informed donor communications, partnership conversations, presentations, grant applications, and organizational storytelling throughout the year.
