During my time at Ecojustice, I worked on public-facing communications supporting environmental advocacy and biodiversity protection efforts in British Columbia. This included helping communicate complex ecological and policy issues in ways that felt accessible, credible, and grounded in the real environmental impacts communities were facing.
One project focused on the growing need for dedicated biodiversity protection legislation in British Columbia, a province with some of the highest biodiversity levels and species-at-risk numbers in Canada. The work involved translating dense policy and legal information into clearer public-facing content that could support awareness, engagement, and advocacy efforts.
Environmental communications often involve balancing scientific accuracy, legal complexity, emotional resonance, and public accessibility all at once. My role required working closely with technical subject matter while shaping messaging that could connect with broader audiences beyond the environmental sector.
This work reflects the kind of communications projects I’m most drawn to: helping organizations communicate urgent, complex issues with clarity, nuance, and strong storytelling.
